Rope

We have finally come across my favorite movie in this class. I love the one tracking shot through the whole movie. It made me think that i was watching a play and thats what i loved about this movie, it made me think. This film is not considered one of Hitchcocks best but i think it should be right up there with "The Birds, and "Psycho".

I guess this is my favorite because it involves a murder mystery, but what makes this one so different from every other one is that it could be realized in a second. The answer to the whole riddle is right in front of us and the characters, and i think that in life alot of the times the ansewer is right in front of us but we just cant figure it out or we are unwilling to do so.

I give this film a 4 out of 4. This is the best film that i have seen in awhile.
The Testament of Dr. Mabuse

The Second film by Fritz Lang that we have seen in this class is a mysterious one. It involves the inspector investigating a case that all the evidence leads to a man who has been in an institution and who died in there. The twists and turns in the movie make it an enjoyable view, and an exciting one. The angles and the lighting makes the movie for me. The mysterious feeling the viewer (me) gets is credited to the director for the angles and lighting he uses. Fritz Lang seems to be a good director. In the two movies that I have seen he has used film making and made it an art and that is what I respect most about him. Fritz Lang is a Director, but most importantly he is an artist...and that is evident in this film.

On my "Wiggle Rating" i will give this film a 3 out of 4.
Nosferatu

A silent film based on the story "Dracula", the movie scares yet enriches the minds of the viewer. It adds to our imagination and keeps us thinking about the imaginable. When i see films about things that i do not understand i kind of become distant from them. I feel as if i shouldnt be watching it. Yet after i saw this piece of cinema, i began to change my approach. I am now very interested in seeing and doing things that are difficult to understand. I no longer am ignorant to just pass on a film because its to hard to understand. Many films this year have opened my eyes and have dared me to imagine, dared me to think and dared me to realize that there is more than comedy in this world.

As for my "Wiggle Rating" I must give this film a 2 out of 4.
Shadow of the Vampire

An interesting film about vampires is what i came out with at the end of this movie. This movie is pretty graphic but it also has a story to go with it. The film is based of the silent film Nosferatu. Which is an old silent dracula film that was one of the first good horror films ever made. I have seen both films and i like the newer one, because of the main actor John Malkovich. He is a great actor and everytime i see him in a movie he immediately makes the film better. Malkovich plays the director who is making a film about Dracula.

As for my "Wiggle Rating" I must give this film 3 out of 4. It was the best dracula movie that i have seen and it wasnt a typical horror movie which i like.

Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

This movie is my second silent film and to be honest i had a hard time following it. Maybe im retarted or something, but i just couldnt get myself to understand the film. I cant really say i disliked it because i didnt undertsand it. Im not that ignorant to say that i disliked a movie when i cat even begin to give u an explanation for the movie. Im willing to watch more of these type of films, because i want to be able to see the meaning behind them. To be able to have a conversation about silent films would broaden my views on cinema.

I cant give this movie a rating because i do not understand it. but please note that i want to watch more silent films so taht i can understand.
Dont Look Now

In this class i have seen many different types of film. Comedy, Drama, Silent, and horror. This movie is probably the second best movie that i have seen in this class. I saw all the angles, and lighting that Mr. Guillory has told us about. You could classify this movie as a horror film, but i dont want to belittle this film by saying that it is just a horror film. We all fear losing the ones we love, but we know that its going to happen one way or another. Its just a matter of when.

I would recomend this movie to you and anyone who is interested in not only a scary movie but a psychological thriller.

As for my Wiggle Rating i will give this film a 3 1/2 out of 4. This movie is a favorite of mine.

Silent Film

Mr. Guillory had us watch our first silent film and it was weird to say the least. I had trouble understanding the film but i think for the next silent film it will be easier for me to comprehend. It was neat to see a different approach to cinema. These type of movies are so different than regular ones. They count on the viewer being able to see the acting and hear the music and to be able to bring those two things together to understand the meaning of the story. The way people expresss themselves through film is amazing and is truly an art. I can appreciate a film that is beautiful and has a meaning over something that is just artifical.

For My Wiggle Review I will give this film 2 out of 4. It was my first silent film and i was totally into it, but i am up for seeing more of these type of films

Dont Look Now

Dont Look Now is a movie that uses many angles, and many different camera techniques. It was really neat to see all the different type of things that Cameras can do. The dissolves, zooms, cuts, and the different lighting techniques all were shown in this movie. I really enjoyed seeing this movie because it was the first one that i have seen in class that really showed all of the different types of things that movies can do. The one thing i love about this movie is the use of the color red. I love it when the color red is used because the color means so much. It can mean blood , evilness, youth, life , and death. The color red has been used in so many movies to portray death (The 6th Sense). I guess you can say that im a little weird about the color red, but i just think that it is cool to see in movies.

For my Wiggle Rating i will give this movie a 2.75 out of 4. I enjoyed the film and i would recomend Mr. Guillory to show this to all of his future classes.

Bubba Ho Tep

This move was funny and very odd. The main character was and older elvis. Elvis has to use a walker, which adds more laughs to the movie. His friend is John F. Kennedy. John is a older, black man who befriends Elvis in the nursing home. During the movie they share a few funny moments that make the movie enjoyable

Yes the movie is kind of stupid... but sometimes watching stupid humor can brighten up your night. I watched the movie just a couple hours ago because i missed it when my class watched it. I couldnt stop laughing because its so stupid, but i would watch it again because it made me laugh. Laughing to me is one of the best things in the world because it takes your mind off of the daily pressures of life. I cant even remember how many times a funny movie has made my day better, and this movie has certainly done that.

As for my Wiggle Review i will give this movie a 2.5 out of 4

Night Of The Living Dead

Zombies are killing humans and eating them as well. I find it odd that the last two movies that i have seen in this class have involved people being eaten... The Zombies would kill there victims and then feast on them to gain power.

I found out that this movie was one of the first to have a black man be the "hero" of the film. I also find it ironic that he ends up dying in the end even after killing off all of the Zombies. The main character fights through the whole movie just to be killed at the end by a police officer. The officer thought that he was seeing a zombie so he shot him in the head, right between the eyes. It goes to show you that in life you can work so hard yet end up with nothing... thats life for you.

For my Wiggle Rating i give this film 2 out of 4. It had a few slow spots, but it was entertaining, so i really cant complain that much.
Texas Chanisaw Masacre

Death, death, and death are the words to describe this movie. The killer in this movie not only kills people but he also tortures them and then eats them. It is really disgusting to think that this could happen. My teacher asked me to see if i could feel sympathy for the killer and i have to say no. The way he kills people is probably the worst way, then again there is no good way to kill a person. The Killer hunts his victims down and then tortures them ,and then feeds them to his grandfather. After reading what i just wrote i think you can agree that it is very hard to show sympathy for such a "person"...

As for my Wiggle Rating i must give this film a 2 out of 4. It was an average movie that has a good story. It was an average film watching experience...

Rear Window

The main actor in this movie seems to live an exciting life. He is a photographer who works for a magazine. He travels around the world and lives the life of a nomad, but when he breaks his leg he has to stay at his apartment which is located in a loud and busy City. As he begins to heal his leg he starts to look into the windows of his neighbors, and when he does that he sees a life that is very different than his own. He sees a lonely woman who is starving for the right man. He also sees a salesman who is acting really suspicious, but most importantly he finds out that his life is so much more different than his neighbors. The Lives of the neighbors seem to be broing, dull and hectic, and his life seems to be exciting and fresh and unpredictable. By the time the movie is over he has to be wanting to get out of his apartment. I know i would want to be out of there.

On my Wiggle Rating i will give it a 1/4. It just wasnt my cup of tea...
